Vehicles in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Police reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests show the substance was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.

A senior political figure said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved promptly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
