19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from that period of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a tight third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
